My dad really got me thinking last night. As we were chatting at our family supper he said, ‘you know Is, life isn’t the dress rehearsal, it’s the real thing.’

I’ve been thinking a lot about this over the past 24 hours. How much time are we guilty of wasting on the little things? I personally lost the plot worrying  over my GCSE’s, thinking that achieving gold twinkly A*’s were the be all and end all of my life. Then you go to uni and it become the degree, will I get a job?, and then most likely to follow time spent in an office, counting down until the weekend and wondering whether you should quit, move to Bali and become a hippie!

Of course a lot of this stuff does matter! Getting a job, supporting one’s family, making good choices when it comes to a healthy lifestyle.

But my message this week is to ask yourself if, in fulfilling these criteria, whether or not you’re treating life like a dress rehearsal or the real thing? In making the most of the opportunities available to you, are you spending enough time with people you love, taking enough time out for yourself, making mistakes simply so you can learn from them, and ultimately letting yourself exist in the moment.

Remember that you only have one time on this planet, so be wise, be foolish and be sure to have no regrets.
